Grand Jury Convenes Here Today With Hughes Facing Indictment
Approximately 40 witnesses were summoned as the April term of Taylor county circuit court opened. Prosecutor James C. Holt said about 15 true bills would be sought including charges of attempted criminal assault sodomy and unlawful cohabitation. Hughes, 37, waived a hearing on attempted rape and faces possible sodomy charges. Hughes has been jailed without bond since the alleged attack on a nine year old girl last Thursday. Other defendants include Lloyd Green awaiting a felonious cutting charge and Jess Wilson on a chicken stealing count. William Pitts, former paramour of Marjorie Hanna, faced a charge of unlawful cohabitation after admitting he lived with her six years outside marriage. Story continues on page three.

Doctor Beaten by Father in Farrell Pennsylvania
Dr. William M. Writ, 42, is in serious condition after being beaten by Sam Busco, whose 14 year old daughter died last June from erysipelas. Busco attacked when the doctor would not sign an affidavit admitting knowledge of Mrs Caroline DAngelo treating the girl. Mrs DAngelo faced charges for practicing medicine without a license.
