Automobile Plane Train Take 5 Lives
A weekend disaster in West Virginia claimed five lives across three transport modes. Three St. Albans men and state road employee died in a car crash into a steel bridge on State Route 14 near Alum Creek. Names listed include Robert Shilling 25 David Adkins 20 and Cecil Hensley 25. A head on collision between two coupe automobiles on Route 38 four miles north of Kite Miller Maryland killed two people and wounded eleven. The deceased are Mrs Jeannete May Simms 49 and Mrs Stella Pennell 28. Several injured were listed in critical condition. Committee Upsets Truman s Budget On 3 Money Items
The House appropriations committee approved a 7.676 billion dollar multi agency bill for the next fiscal year, with a 508 million dollar reduction for the Veterans Administration and deep cuts to pensions and administrative expenses. Plan Mass Rites For Blast Victims
FRAN OLENA FERNS BP MARION 8. D. This small South Dakota town planned a mass funeral for six worshippers killed Sunday when St Marys Catholic church exploded. Bishop William Brady of Sioux Falls tentatively set Wednesday for the rites for the elderly victims kneeling in prayer. Forty seven others were injured, seven critically. Grand Jury Report Delayed At Taylor County Court
Sixteen jurors, delayed an hour, began the April term of Taylor County Circuit Court and were expected to report around 3 90 this afternoon. Five jurors short, special commissioners were appointed to fill the gap. Eight presentments were set for the grand jury including a murder charge against Charles John Edgar Miller, 59, of Flemington coal piner, accused of shooting his daughter Nola Du Vall Miller on January 22. Miller remains jailed after waiving a hearing in justice court. Other presentments from lower courts include Donald Moran charged with felonious assault.
