Rioting Near Bombay Injures Over 100 People

J F Strothe Jurist Dies After Long Ill Health
J F Strother, 60, longtime McDowell County criminal court judge and former West Virginia congressman candidate, died at home in Welch after years of ill health. Born in 1870 in Virginia, Strother studied at local academies and the University of Virginia. He served as deputy collector of internal revenue, U S Commissioner for West Virginia, and was appointed McDowell County judge in 1905, later serving as a national lawmaker aspirant in 1924. He married Miss Lucas in 1924 and had a daughter. He was active in Masonic and civic circles and worshiped at the local church.
