Fatal Airplane Crash Probed At Morgantown
Civil Aeronautics Board inspectors prepare a formal investigation into a Morgantown crash that killed 21 year old Thomas N. Tracy of Philadelphia on his first day as an instructor with Piet Heer Air Service and injured 20 year old Brockman S. Winfrey of Martinsburg. Tracy died when the two passenger craft hit a tree near the Morgantown airport while circling to land. Winfrey received minor injuries and was hospitalized. Mrs. John Ray Davis reported the plane struck the tree near her home and the aircraft nose buried in the ground.

County Jail Sentence Meted Out For Attack
RIPLEY April 9 Field of Ripley was sentenced to eight months in the county jail by Special Judge H. D. Hellmann after conviction of assault and battery in an attack on Ford Winter, the county department of public assistance director. Field and his brother Hobart, and their brother in law Matt Rhodes were indicted for conspiracy to assault Winter on November 9. The other two men will be tried at the next term.
