James Ore of Mason City dozed off near North wood and awoke to a locomotive bearing down. He escaped as the train knocked one end off his car. The second note mentions cranberry bog flooding for pest control and a claim that about 85 percent of the nation’s corn crop moves to market as meat.
Graettinger Times reports on a local home talent show featuring the Newsboys Chorus and All American Cheerleader Chorus with a syncopated wedding scene. Cast includes Alberta Hokett Leona Kulow Catherine King and many others. The production ends with a patriotic finale led by Uncle Sam figures and a performance of Keep Your Eye On The Grand Old Flag.
Goody Thoreson will impersonate the inquiring reporter and hand out prizes as interviews unfold in the audience. Margaret Johnson as Hedda Hopper introduces local talent while Hollywood stars are parodied.
