Walleye bite leads to unusual hooked mishap and local notes

Kensie Poland Celebrates 34th Wedding Anniversary and 50 Years Railroading

The article honors Kensie Poland and his wife on their 34th anniversary and notes his half century in railroading. He started with Rock Inland at Fort Worth in 1999 as a steam shovel laborer, moved to the Kansas division a year later, and became locomotive engineer in 1919, a role he has held for forty years. A Gold Pass presentation to Mr. Poland accompanied a Rockets photo. Kensie has visited the area several times.

High school football veteran Charles Torgon suffers a broken collarbone in practice. Labor Day turnout and weather described with crowds near 10,000 and 2,500 inside the enclosure for the fight.
