Mrs Carl Holte Died At Her Home West Of Graettinger
Mrs Carl Holte died Thursday at her home west of Graettinger after illness beginning the prior Sunday. Funeral services were held at the residence and at the Lutheran church in Tot Island township with Rev. Sande officiating. Pallbearers included Rierson, Rierson, Rierson, Rierson, Thoreson, and Thoreson. Helen Martina Jacobson, born in Norway Oct 28 1876, would have been 42 next October. She and Carl Holte had nine children, four living Lars Kenneth Gulda Marie Rachael and Hans Christian. The deceased was a devoted wife mother and neighbor. The Times extends sympathy to the family.

Labor Day Picnic Grand Success in Graettinger
Labor Day observance in Graettinger featured dignitaries Mack J. Groves of Estherville and W E G Saunders of Emmetsburg, street sports, a cracker contest, Emmetsburg defeating Graettinger 6 to 4, and a large evening crowd. The day ended with a fireworks display, a barn fire, and a packed dance hall.

Jorgen Kolhovd, a Norwegian immigrant with eight children and his wife left to seek a home in the United States. He joined Casual Company No. 4 Camp No. 1 after serving in the army and enjoyed a farewell picnic at High Lake. Plans include transfer to Camp Greene, North Carolina, then to France as part of the war effort. Also noted is J. J. Zitterick's Labor Day Ford crank accident causing a broken arm and layoff concerns.
