Shenandoah Falls Ship Wrecked In Ohio Storm
The airship Shenandoah broke apart in a rain and wind storm near Cambridge Ohio. Thirteen of forty two crew were killed four lost two injured and the rest saved. The commander died and the wreckage spread over a ten mile area. Built at Lakehurst New Jersey in 1922 for two million dollars, it was en route to Des Moines when disaster struck. The other item notes a Social Home Club meeting set for September 11, 1845 with Mrs Clara Duus hosting and others assisting.

Heat overcomes youth on farm tractor in September
A Boecker family report notes one of their boys, about eighteen or nineteen, was overcome by heat while operating a tractor. No further details were available at press time. The piece also comments on a very warm month with little rain, describing August and early September as exceptionally hot and the driest year locally. Graettinger folks are praised for threshing work with Graettinger being highlighted as a source of good labor.
Obituary of Anna Christina Matsen of Hawarden
Mrs Anna Christina Matsen born in Denmark in 1843 died August 29 at her daughter's Hawarden home aged 82. Funeral conducted by Rev G J Mekkelson at the M E Church with interment east of town. Survived by Ness Hy Matsen Hans Matsen Olinvis Lawrence Matsen and Mary Christensen plus 18 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren. She united with Danish Lutheran church and later the Methodist Episcopal church.
