The death of Eli Harris occurred Monday October 25 at the Estherville home of his daughter Mrs Elmer Fox after a brief decline in health. A funeral was held at the Methodist Church this forenoon and interment made in High Lake Cemetery. Observers note his sudden passing came despite longstanding poor health.

Eli Harris born October 30 1837 in Ohio died October 25 while visiting his daughter in Estherville. He served in the 148 Illinois infantry, lived in Graettinger for years, and leaves seven of eleven children, a sister in Illinois, and a long record as a helpful neighbor. Funeral held at the Methodist church with pallbearers named Craven Cameron Laughlin Hazen Goodland and Rucker. Burial at High Lake cemetery beside his wife.
