Political love feasts held last week in Graettinger

Two party rallies were held in Graettinger as election day nears. Democrats led by Dr. Geo H. Keeney hosted Attorney T. B. Diamond in Hawk Theatre, touting state savings and a three point tax plan. Republicans followed at Hawkeye with Ole Naglestad, Fred Gilchrist, and A. H. Henningsen, stressing law enforcement, national and state issues, and opposition to the sales tax. Both events drew large crowds and featured county officers presiding.

Ben Reeves Max Baumgartner and John McBile drove from Graettinger to Des Moines Monday for the Miler Rosenbloom boxing card. They reported Miler earned a draw while Rosenbloom relied on slap punches. fans praised Miler’s game and even met him in his dressing room after the bout. The group returned home around 3 a.m.

Maynard Hurlburt Weds Graettinger Girl at Mallard

Maynard Hurlburt son of Mr and Mrs Fred Hurlburt of OsHoot vicinity and Bernioce Flier daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Itier of Graettinger were married at the Lutheran church in Mallard with Rev Henrichs officiating. Attendants were Sam Abby Ayrshire and Lydia Janssen Emmetsburg. After a wedding trip to Illinois the couple will settle on a farm near Osgood. The groom's family is well known in the area and the bride is praised by all who met her. The Times offers hearty congratulations and wishes for a joyful life together.

Nephew of Mrs Lindsey Killed on Highway

Orville Hauser twenty, nephew of Mrs L L Lindsey of Graettinger, was killed Tuesday when his motorcycle collided with a truck on Highway 29 ten miles north of Sioux City. Percy Denison of Hudson South Dakota drove the truck. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Louis Hauser of Merrill Iowa. Mrs Hauser is L L Lindsey’s sister. Hauser visited Graettinger two weeks ago. Mrs Lindsey and daughter Margaret and Mr and Mrs J R Skow left for Merrill to attend the funeral.
