Burma Sky and Smoke Aboard the Air Ferry to Calcutta
The passage recalls low flights over Burma and Shwebo while avoiding Japanese fighters. A transport crew ferries staff to Calcutta after bombed towns, meets General Stilwell briefly, and plans further relief runs. They face heavy rain, fires, and the challenge of coordinating with Stilwell’s group. The narrative highlights ferrying rice to Chinese armies and the grit of landing on a 900 foot Fort Hertz field piloted by Long John Payne.

Propaganda Bundles Dropped With Barometric Gears
Allied airmen drop propaganda bundles over Germany with new barometric gadgets. Each gadget, about a shoe polish can in size, keeps sheets intact until reaching a low height to prevent scattering beyond the target area. Leaflets are then released across vast rural regions.
