Mystery farm near Graettinger linked to Peter son family
Last week's Times notes a 160 acre farm four and a half miles west and half a mile south of Graettinger owned by Orval and Hazel Peterson. Orval, born on the property, returned from service in 1946 to operate it for his parents O C and Mrs O C Peterson, longtime Graettinger residents who bought the farm in 1918 from Soren Peterson. The property, homesteaded in 1870 by John H Houston, has historical ties to Danish and Irish settlers and features a modernized house and water pressure system. The Peterssons have two children, Oran and Mary Catherine, attend Graettinger schools and belong to St Paul’s Lutheran church. Typical crops and livestock on the 160 acres include cattle hogs and poultry.
