Sioux County Case Delays Then Farris Body Found
The Sioux County v Steve Farris intoxication case was postponed on September 2 due to the defendant's absence. Three weeks later Farris was found dead by hanging in a secluded wooded area, with officials attributing the act to stress from the pending hearing. The Hampton Chronicle comments on towns facing self-inflicted decline and urges local business support to boost prosperity. Included are fragmented, stray local notes about Ed Burlington in Central City and other scattered snippets.

Waterloo man hopes for Filor ence Glelau’s recovery
Robert Billings of Waterloo hails the hope that Filor ence Glelau, injured when Billings drove, may recover. If her injuries prove fatal, Sheriff George Mamminga of Grondy county says manslaughter charges could be filed. A bolt of lightning struck the Lloyd Yankey farm near Vail, following electric wires into the Yankey bedroom and igniting the mattress. Mr and Mrs Yankey, though stunned, acted quickly and remained capable.
