Freshmen reception praised by Sophores at scarlet gym event

The Sophores gave the Freshmen a reception Friday night in the gym decorated in scarlet and black. Upperclassmen tried to initiate the Freshmen outside, but most passed through alone. Paul Level sprained his arm and was absent last week. Six weeks exams will be placed next week. The Senior pennant has been taken down for some reason.

Emmetsburg Loses To Sacred Heart In Football Clash

St Marys of Emmetsburg were defeated by Sacred Heart of Fort Dodge 12 to 6 on a Saturday afternoon. Fort Dodge struck twice on fluke plays in the first quarter while Emmetsburg scored in the third. Emmetsburg threatened in the fourth but failed to cross, and the referee ended the game with Sacred Heart ahead. The next meeting is expected to have Emmetsburg win 20 to 0.

Mrickson was notified Tuesday evening by telegram of his mother's death at almost 92. She had been ill briefly, passed away Monday, and the funeral was held Wednesday. He receives sympathy from friends and neighbors.
