Adventures and setbacks of aircrew crossing Africa to India
The narrative follows Col Robert L. Scott and his AVG comrades as they push from West Africa toward Kano and Khartoum, relay tales of training in Burma, and face delays and shifting orders while pursuing a bold bombing mission against Japan. It recalls encounters with jazz in Togoland, desert crossings, and the tension of awaiting authorization in Karachi as Baotan falls.
