The Minnesota Iowa conservation commission reached a reciprocal fishing agreement for border lakes. Included in Iowa are Little Spirit Iowa Lake in Osceola County Iowa Lake in Emmet County Tuttle and Swag lakes. Regulations accompany the pact for the joint fishing rights.
Mrs. Jake Jensen’s hen laid a four yolk egg with a double yolk inside a yolk, and Cyrus Guinn found a thin two-part egg called a Siamese Twin. Local humor explores humor vs. anger, women mayors, and a chance for Helen Kirkegaard to bake a pie after a data search at the Times office.
The show last week drifted considerably and roads were poor for a few days leading motorists to be pulled from drifts. Fremont Fau of the city suffered a broken arm in a fall Monday. R. C. Mason bought the Ray Kenedy residence and block in southern Graettinger. Wm. Thompson and Orville Smith left for Ames to attend the district corn picking contest. Thompson is Palo Alto county champion. Clemmensen and Masters report sale of a Durant coach to Leo Schany and another Durant coach to S. M. Andersen. Merle Hankey visited from Brookville, Ill, a few days. Alfred Show returned to Los Angeles, Calif. Con’s death brought him here. Clara Suss attended Algona for the W. H. M. S. C. O. Wikert moved J. E. Turner goods to Milford and Louie Graettinger goods from Forest City here. Mrs. Charles Spies hosted a birthday party for daughter Ann Catherine. Mrs. Jorgen Paulsen expects to leave Coleman hospital next Sunday after a surgical operation four weeks ago. Anna Redmond rode to Chicago Monday to visit her sister Mrs. M. Tl. Murphy. H. H. Gjerde is building a chicken house. Roy Lundgren, Vera Lumgren and Martha Herke returned from Chicago and Mendota, Ill. Elisabeth Spies attended a moon luncheon in Algona and sang a vocal selection with encores.
The Graettinger Iowa city council met at City Hall on November 2 1958. Mayor Thomsen presided with all aldermen present. Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. A financial report was presented and bills were approved for payment. The council named election judges for November 3 1963 and adjourned after motions to pay the bills and close the meeting. The Times ad section notes a raccoon hunting season reminder from the State Conservation Commission for 1954 with season dates and trapping rules.
