Pioneer Estherville merchant dies at 77

Chris Nau a lifelong Estherville merchant died at Holy Family hospital from bladder operation complications. Born in Norway in 1871, he arrived in the U.S. in 1892 and opened the Nau clothing store in 1898 with his brother K K Nau, later selling to Leuthold Tibbetts in 1938. He was a longtime manager at the state Aquor store and leaves a son Edgar of Miami and daughter Lillian Fox of Ayrshire, among other relatives.

Mrs Otto Rick 64 Dies in Estherville

Mrs Otto Rick aged 64 died at Hol Family hospital from uremic poisoning. Services set for Monday at the Rick home and Estherville Presbyterian church with burial at Oak Hill. Born Ida Buendiger in Perham Minnesota in 1885 she married Otto Rick in Fargo and later moved to Estherville. Surviving are three sons Gordon John Bernard all of Estherville, three daughters Mrs Lloyd Edmunds Mrs Elmer Brix and Mrs Lyle Skow of Estherville, nine grandchildren, six sisters, two brothers and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers.

Neighbors Help Harvest 65 Acres With Corn Picking Bee

Neighbors pitch in to harvest 65 acres of corn on Mrs Hang Jensen's farm south of Wallingford. Eight mechanical pickers and 31 neighbors finish in six hours with wives and others supplying food and fuel from Torreson Oil. The Jensen family mourns the death of Mr Jensen during a July 4 picnic.
