Future Homemakers Honor Mothers At Tea
The annual Mother Daughter Tea was held in the school gym on Tuesday night May 15. President Marlys Graettinger led the Welcome and Opening Ceremony. Forty three members and their mothers attended. new officers were installed including President Marlys Graettinger and Vice President Sheri Westergard with pins and awards given for yearly achievement in F H A. A style show featured members modeling clothing, followed by a lunch and a skit by Prom Waiters and Waitresses.

Summer youth jobs funding for nine Iowa counties
The Governor's Office notified Upper Des Moines Opportunity on May 25 that federal funds under the Emergency Employment Act of 1971 will support 230 summer work slots for low income youth ages 14 to 18. About 40,000 dollars could fund 100 slots in nine counties Osceola O'Brien Dickinson Clay Buena Vista Emmet Palo Alto Pocahontas and Kossuth with 24 hour weeks at 1.60 per hour.
