Government Revenue Surpasses Private Savings by Billions

Government revenues at federal, state, and local levels have exceeded private savings by about 20 billion dollars annually since World War II, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. From 1946 to 1950 the aggregate margin totaled 131 billion, driven largely by taxes as defense spending rises and borrowing declines. The trend suggests a lasting shift in the economy's saving capacity and the cost of government.

Tests by Army personnel in incendiary bomb plants have been completed and further tests explore military possibilities.
