Des Moines Joins Iowa on Summer Training Cruise
The heavy cruiser USS Des Moines CA-184 moors with battleship USS Iowa BB-61 at Norfolk VA. Des Moines, 17,500 tons, will join the 58,000 ton Iowa flagship of the Atlantic Fleet on Cruise Abte. They will visit Scandinavian German and British ports in June and July.

Lightning strikes Moravia home causes damage
Lightning hit a bed in the Russell Burns residence in Moravia recently, moving the bed about a foot and tearing a gap in the bedroom wall. Occupants Mr Burns and his son Jimmy were unharmed. Plaster was knocked from every room and siding was strewn for about 200 feet.
