John Fish of the state Conservation and Game Department visited the Times after a district meeting in Emmetsburg. He highlighted multiple wildlife area projects in Buena Vista County and noted seven areas completed this year, naming local participants and a Miss Graettinger contest. Also covered are fishing reports, Tulip Festival scenes in Orange City, and a photo display of Graettinger grads.

Wim Thompson of Ayrshire acquired Wim Stevens repair business assets. Grachtinger defeated Terris High 14 to 1. Jorgen Paulsen and family were Estherville callers. John Hester and Carl Spies attended to business in Fairmont. J. P. Wagner and Mrs. Thomas McDonald motored to Armstrong. Charles Sandvig visited his parents while working near Curlew. Wilma Webbe visited Elmer Peterson’s. Mrs. B. S. George went to Manson for a Margaret shower. The Racpe family and ME OE. Racpe visited Arnolds Park. Fort Dodge workmen build an ice house for Wm. Foster, who plans an ice business for the city. Bartleman Brothers installed a barber shop shower bath. delay held up fixtures. J. J. Martin attended Hawkeye theatre with Emmetsburg guests. Martin is county treasurer and seeks reelection.
Grachtinger Municipal Light Plant board met May 11 1953 with all members present. Motions approved last minutes, bills paid in full, and transfer of 2600 from general to board fund. Local items include salaries, welding, distribution, fuel, plant supplies, insurance, tree cutting, printing, petty cash and miscellaneous credits. Also notes the Algona courthouse demolition and Guthrie Center death of Lucey Hopkins, 101.
Sealed proposals are invited for general contract heating and plumbing and electrical work for a Graettinger Iowa school addition for the Consolidated School District. Bidders must meet all bid requirements and deadlines as specified in the project documents.
