Formation of Palo Alto County Extension Council Proposed
Friday May 13 marks the effective date for the county extension law. Iowa state director Floyd Andrew asks Palo Alto County residents to help form the first County Agricultural Extension Council, elected by township voters in coming weeks. The council will supervise the county extension program and run the Palo Alto County Agricultural Extension District funded by a new county tax, taking over duties from the Farm Bureau board. Meetings to outline township election dates will begin May 16 with a select group, and notices of meeting times and places will be published rather than mailed countywide. Once formed the council will comprise 16 members.
