Fire at West Bend Destroys Creamery and Nearby Structures
Fire crews from Emmetsburg and Algona responded to a major blaze at West Bend yesterday afternoon. The cooperative creamery building burned to the ground, with a Daubendik barn and corn crib destroyed, and damage to Henry Corweller and John Montag homes and a Conlon building. The John residence near the creamery also caught fire, prompting coordinated efforts to extinguish. The creamery was a four frame structure slated for replacement this year. The blaze began in the Daubendik barn and spread rapidly to the creamery. Credit to Emmetsburg Democrat for the report.
