Young Men Marry Guido and Margo Byron in Windom Area

Several local weddings announced on Tuesday April 16. Robert Guida wed Margaret Byron at the bride’s sister home and the couple planned housekeeping on a North Bingham Lake farm. Daniel Arthur Guida wed Altha Jane Paden at his parents’ home, with a large dinner and plans to continue teaching. A third couple, Anna Jones and Miles Mahan, married at St Mary’s church in Lodge Pole with a full ceremony and reception, and will reside in Lodge Pole after a short honeymoon trip.

Wrestling Match at Woodmen Hall Draws Crowd

The Woodmen Hall wrestling event drew good attendance with a two out of three falls prelim between Chris Anchor of Obedon and Bert Montgomery. Anchor won two straight falls, fifteen and eight minutes. In the main bout Harvey Peterson faced Mr Holden of Ottoson. Holden won two straight falls in twelve and fourteen minutes, using a half nelson and maintaining control. The next show is in Ottoson next Saturday night.

Large tile drainage push farmers with new crews

Much Wing reports a major tiling drive this summer with Chas. Dohigg hiring eleven men from Armstrong and Emmetsburg and plans for ten to twelve tile cars on farms near Swea City. Benefits of drainage are now clear to landowners who installed tile earlier, while labor shortages may slow progress despite wages of $3 or more per day.

Fairfield man traps seven wolves for bounty

Bert Nelson of Fairfield township captured seven young wolves for the bounty. He shot the old wolf, she escaped, and he dug out the whelps alive. He brought in two live whelps. The bounty on young wolves is 2.50 each, totaling 17.50 for the seven. This made a pretty good day's work.

Roosevelt and Grilk Fail To Save Second District

In 1910 Roosevelt attempted to preserve the second district for Charles Grilk but failed. In 1912 Grilk sought to save the district for Roosevelt and also failed, leaving the account now balanced.
