World of mathematics shapes modern schooling and work
An editorial notes that while past schooling required two to three years beyond eighth grade for math, today most jobs demand numeric literacy due to tax rules budgeting banking and data. It argues math is essential alongside language in modern civilization. It also highlights a senior play Sally's Private Earthquake and lists varied school notes and local activities.

Farcical Snippets and Quips From Estherville Miscellany
A fragmented page features humorous vignettes and morals including a remark on money and opportunity, a note on the origins of the modern telephone, a Robin in cold weather story, a caution about judging looks, a pun on a girl and pudding, a quip about a nervous politician, a Christian atheist anecdote about burial, a quip on duels and the pen mightier than the sword, and stray book and poker references from a local tale.
Community Notes From Delavan And Surrounding Areas
Indignation and thirst for revenge yield to civility as Niels Nielsen and family visited Delavan Minnesota Sunday. Local families attended picnics at Fort Defiance State Park and celebrated anniversaries in Petersburg and nearby towns. Ingval Tin suffers a severe flu attack while neighbors visit in support. Funeral notices touch Miss Mary Lambe of Dubuque with extended family arriving for Pat Lambe’s death. 4-H and social visits span Osgood to Spencer as residents share meals, birthdays, and travel tales across Iowa communities.
