Nine Graettinger band students earned Division I Superior ratings at the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters solo contest in Storm Lake Iowa on Saturday March 16 1974. soloists span grades 6 to 8 across trombone trumpet flute clarinet alto saxophone and bass clarinet with multiple players achieving Division I honors.
The Graettinger cooperative advances a 3,381 foot siding project to load a 54 car grain train from a new elevator. Completion of the final siding sections aims for 1975 or 1976 with eight hour loading once finished. Farmers are urged to sell before harvest as transport capacity may tighten and elevators limit purchases.
Graettinger High School plans to send soloists and ensembles to the State Music Contest on March 29 and 30 hosted by South Clay Community School at Webb attendance center. Soloists include Dan Voigt and Russell Swan. instrumental and vocal groups feature multiple students and ensembles such as Boys Quartet Mixed Double Quartet and Brass Quintet.
Mr and Mrs Terry Harris and Melissa brought Frank Mammen to the Amos Mammen home for an extended visit. Elmer Mammen and Robert Masters families joined in Sunday meals and social visits.
