Funeral Held for Mrs. S. E. Masters in Graettinger
Graettinger mourned Mrs. S. E. Masters who died after years of poor health. Born August 27, 1850 in Jefferson township, she married Simon Edward Masters in 1868 and lived in Bramton before moving to Graettinger. Survived by ten children, 29 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and many kin, she was a longtime Methodist and pioneer mother. Funeral services were held at home and at the MTE church with Rev. Carl Hammer officiating.

Girls Sweep State Tourney Rounds At Armstrong
Coach Vivian Kelly's team opened with a 19 to 10 win over Ledyard and followed with a 31 to 23 victory against Lone Rock in the Armstrong state sectional. They fell to Seneca 26 to 12 in Saturday action. Seneca won the title by beating Armstrong 24 to 19. Graettinger girls also impressed with strong play.

Music Contest At High School Next Thursday
A music concert will be held in the High School Auditorium on Thursday March 28 with the mixed chorus small groups mixed quartet boys quartet and girls sextet and soloists performing. An entrance fee of 10c and 15c will help cover music costs. Participants will represent HK School at the sub district contest in Estherville on March 24 and 25.

Funeral services for Mrs Vivan Wolfe were held Friday at the M E church in Graettinger after she died Tuesday at 2 40 p m at the home of her parents in Emmetsburg from urnemic poisoning following months of illness including influenza and inflammatory rheumatism She was born Emma Louise Ellis in Graettinger on November 29 1911 and married Vivan Wolfe two years ago The funeral drew a large attendance with pallbearers listed and interment in the cemetery northwest of Graettinger The Times extends sympathy to her husband parents and siblings from the community.

Beauty the World Famous Milking Cow Dies
Last month Beauty, a world renowned cow owned by N J Johnson of Wallingford, died. Born in 1912, she yielded milk for eighteen years nine months and nineteen days with one calf born May 1, 1914. Milk tested 7 percent butterfat and supported two families until eighteen months ago. A photo of Johnson and Beauty is displayed in the Times office. Patrick J Millay, 82, died at Emmetsburg after a long railroad career. born in Ireland on March 16, 1850, he came to the United States in 1878 and leaves fifteen children. Survivors listed. Graettinger friends extend sympathy.

Tragic double murder case shocks Wallingford area
Mrs. Joe Berven, 25, and her three children were severely harmed in a noon attack at the Emmet Moore farm near Wallingford. Husband Joe Berven was taken into custody after allegedly striking each victim with a gun barrel. Wife died en route to Estherville hospital. three children, Elmer 5 Ramona 3 and Jackie 1, were seriously injured with crushed skulls. no charges filed yet.

Small Boy Run Over By Cary Leg Broken
Three year old son of Mr and Mrs Gustoff suffered a broken leg when run over in the Gustoff yard by Alfred Hansen of Groetlinger. Hansen had just started his car and did not drive over six feet. The accident was described as unavoidable from the driver's view. The boy is said to be progressing as well as can be expected.
