Bank Change Tuesday Shocks Graettinger Business Circles
The First National Bank absorbs the American Savings Bank after negotiations. The transfer shifts all accounts and assets, making two banks serve Graettinger, with the Farmers and Merchants as the other local lender. J A Spies and J B Lambe led the Savings bank, Lambe to stay briefly at First National. The move promises strong growth for the new arrangement and continued customer service. Local officials note broader concerns over small checks and potential penalties to curb under one dollar payments.
