Toweral Telegraphs Two Way Radio Tower At Pocahontas

A 175 foot self-supporting tapered tube tower for a two way radio system was hoisted at Pocahontas on February 26. Seven sections were assembled on the ground before setting on a concrete base. Manager Stockdale and engineer R G Avada inspected top blinker lights as a 23 ton crane lifted the tower. The base is 10 by 12 feet with a 40 cubic yard concrete pour, secured by six 3 inch by 12 foot bolts. Estimated tower cost is $6000, with a new 250 watt base station at Corn Bell’s diesel plant replacing a 15 year old 60 watt unit.
