Wallingford Woman Is Dead After Short Illness

Mrs. Catherine C. Lawler Kennedy of Wallingford died at 5 30 Sunday following a brief pneumonia illness. Born March 10 1861 in DeKalb Illinois she taught there before marrying James P B Kennedy in 1885. The family lived near DeKalb and in High Lake township Elvester County. Seven children survive with Edward the only one who predeceased her. Funeral services were held at the home and Catholic church in Egtherville with many relatives and friends in attendance. She was a devoted mother and active church member.

Fire kills Emmetsburg man Thos Egan in Great Oak Township

On a Wednesday night last week Thos Egan, living alone on his farm seven miles northeast of Emmetsburg, perished in a devastating fire. Neighbor Hamilton, returning from a lodge meeting, arrived too late to rescue him as the house burned to the ground. Egan was found face downward near the door knob. investigators believe he woke to flames and died while attempting to escape. The blaze is thought to have started in the kitchen. Come to Graettinger next Saturday March 15th.

Wallingford Young Man Weds Bertha Wedne of Gaylord

Oscar Paterson of Wallingford marries Bertha Wedne of Gaylord at the groom’s parents’ home in Wallingford. They depart for a South Dakota honeymoon and plan to set up housekeeping on the home farm near Wallingford. The bride, previously a factory worker, is described as worthy and well suited to her new role.
