Diane Flint Reports On Trip To Washington D C
On Monday June 12 at 10 30 a m ninety one Iowans boarded a United Airlines jet to Washington D C traveling 570 mph at 37000 feet. After a 41 minute flight we reached Dulles and rode two DC Transit buses to the Marriott Twin Bridges Motel the largest in the United States. The Iowa delegation of 70 essay winners 16 self supported youths and 5 chaperones met for an orientation then a Congressional Dinner with most Iowa Congressmen present. I spoke with 6th District Representative Wiley Mayne and aides. The group stayed in rooms four to a room enjoyed color TV air conditioning and maid service.
