Choco jungle journey and a carved mahogany encounter
A travelogue recounts a Sunday in the jungle with the Choco people. The narrator discovers a mahogany carved face and a bird atop its head, declines selling it, receives it as a gift, and recalls baptism rites, river travel, rain, and mission involvement under missionary Deusdedith Escobar. The group faces a long trek to La Palma and a delayed Latin pilot, ending with the carved piece as a memento.
