Community initiative converts former Graettinger Times building into a senior center. A committee from three churches organized the project with funds from local donors. A kickoff meeting for interested seniors is set for Saturday at 3 15 PM at the Legion building.
John Gilger of Indianola has been hired by the Griettinger Community School Board to teach Junior and Senior English and Speech. A Simpson College graduate with a B A, he completed four years in the military with the RSA P. He attended Ottumwa High.
Mr and Mrs Paul Forey of Graettinger represented the Terminal Coop at Lake Okoboji during the 1972 Felco Land O Lakes conferences. The week featured a managers session with topics on grain transportation, occupational safety, wages, pricing, and managerial performance. More than 1,000 cooperative staff and leaders attended across seven sessions, with recreational activities amid the training.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fuhrman Funeral Home in Graettinger for Lisa Marie Cole, 63 months old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cole, who died unexpectedly at Ringsted on Thursday, June 15, 1972. She was born November 17, 1971 in Hartley. Surviving siblings include Candy, 4, and David, 3. Grandparents and great-grandparents are listed.
