The Wallingford American Legion post plans the annual Fourth of July celebration drawing families to a classic Bet and entertainment. Norman Erbe, the town attorney general, will speak. Remodel of Graettinger Coop Office Space Starts

Construction begins this week on a new 20 by 11 foot addition with a basement on the south side of Graettinger Coop Grain offices. The block structure will house the Graettinger Olesen Bros. as contractors, while the existing space will be remodeled with new rent rooms and other improvements noted by coop manager Jim Iverson.

Over 140 Register For Swimming Program

The summer recreation swimming program began with over 140 registered for free transport to the Desherville pools each Monday and Wednesday forenoon and Friday afternoons. Children meet at Cahoor grounds at 8 30 for Morning Swim and at 1 pm for Friday sessions. Baton changes begin next Tuesday for area girls. Twenty eight had registered early in the week.

Anna Jorgensen Attends 12th Annual School Lunch Course

Mrs Anna M Jorgensen of Graettinger joined 74 other attendees at Town State college in Ames for the 12th annual school lunch course. The 75 participants were organized into groups led by 180 home economics staff members who analyzed short course menus and each day a group prepared a meal for attendees.

Joe Camery Named Palo Alto County Engineer

Joe Camery aged 61 from Wappeilo will replace Fred Short as Palo Alto County engineer. Board selected Camery at June 1 meeting. he starts June 18. The Graettinger Midgets and Mites swept Border league action at Lake Park on Monday night with a Mites 10-7 and Midgets 13-10. Mites rallied with a seven run third inning as Larry Jenser pitched early trouble before Leonard Cornelius relieved him. Mosquito Fog Demonstration Planned by City Council

The Des Moines firm Dynafor will demonstrate a mosquito control fogging machine for a town wide distribution. Dates depend on weather. originally set for Wednesday or Thursday morning this week. The gun type device uses jet propulsion to emit a heavy non toxic fog that settles with light wind drift.
