Burglary Strikes East Howard Street Home

The A. C. Brown home on east Howard Street was broken into between midnight and 3 a.m. Saturday. Over $200 in solid silverware plus a small hand grip disappeared after entry through a north window. The burglars ransacked lower rooms, then drank coffee and ate cookies in the kitchen before fleeing. Evidence points to local or professional thieves. no decisive suspect was found.

Report from Story City Herald details three Ames residents injured or killed in traffic incidents Sunday. W. D. Elwell, prohibitionist of Ames, died after being struck by a Chicago and Northwestern express near Linn Valley west of Marshalltown. Henry Bryant, aged Ames resident, died after a buggy fall caused by a frightened horse near Ames. T. T. Sande and his son Alfred suffered severe injuries when their buggy upset near Roland.

Singular Incident Near Itone Rock Injures Narrow Escape

A nearby accident occurred last Friday as Dan Lynch aided neighbor Chas Fischer shelling corn by horse power. Four teams moved the power. frightened horses caused a tumble rod to break, tangled the lines, and a 4x4 timber struck near Dan but he escaped unharmed. The power iron twisted and wood splintered. Drowning at Elm Lake near Clarion claims local man

Marion Rehmeir a young Clarion worker drowned at Elm lake Sunday trying to retrieve his hat from a leaky boat. A Norway native who had lived in America about three years he left behind parents in Norway and a brother and sister in Nebraska. This is the fourth Elm lake drowning in less than a year.

Runaway Horse Draws Near Fatal Car Crash Claims

A report from Ayrabire Chronicle states Col. £. D. Smith faced a runaway near William Schmidt's place while traveling to town. Witmer of Curlew drove the automobile that frightened the team, sending Smith and his family from the buggy. The buggy was demolished but no serious injuries are confirmed.

Hail Stones As Large As Ostrich Eggs reported

Montgomery Illinois June 11 report recalls last Friday April 16 storm in Montgomery county. Hillsboro suffered the worst hail event with streets and gutters filled by melting ice. Windows skylights roofs were damaged and some injuries occurred. Hailstones measured about three and a half inches in diameter.
