E. 2. Schmuecker of Marengo formerly Pocahontas was honored at the Keret Electric Co annual meeting last Wednesday for years of service. John Swanson received a car as recognition for rural assistance and dedication to Pocahontas Cooperative.
The fragment references an extension service director role in Pocahontas County during the early Rural Electrification period, indicating leadership in bringing electric service to rural areas and coordinating agricultural and community development programs.
The Veron Vanguards held a regular meeting on Tuesday May 13 at the Township hall. 17 members three leaders and the county extension director attended. Reports were read and approved. Decisions included attending 4H camp by Ben Hanky and Gary Nicol and scheduling the club tour for June. Gary Nicol spoke on magnets and Jerry Ulrich demonstrated electric outlets. Lunch was provided by Gary and Leonard Nicol and Dan and Bob Wikert.
Mrs Naas received a Canadian Dollar as a gift. The exhibit from Victoria featured Bone china rocks from Quebec a wool blanket Mounties doll and assorted postcards. Mrs Amos Egeland led a presidents quiz and lunch closed the afternoon. No meetings in summer. Fall tea scheduled for last Friday in September at C W Olson home.
