Gardens, Disease Diagnosis Tips for Plant Samples

Farmers and gardeners sending plant specimens to Iowa State College should prioritize quality and provide complete parts. 80 percent arrive poorly preserved, hampering disease identification among 90000 known plant maladies. Include diseased and healthy portions, with root and stem samples for wilt or yellowing cases. For wilted trees, cut several six inch sections from twigs about four inches in diameter and attach leaves if possible.
