Died From Peculiar Accident in Minnesota Garden
Three year old son of Mr and Mrs Carl Wac of Jackson Minnesota died after placing a small radish in his nose. The root fermented causing acute pain and a nose operation failed to save him. The death was attributed to lockjaw before relief could be obtained.

Death of Mrs Hans Simonsen of Graettinger
Mrs Hans Simonsen of Graettinger passed away at her home on Monday afternoon after heart trouble. The Danish Lutheran services were held at her residence and at the church with burial in South Walnut cemetery. She was 66 years old, born September 17 1853 in Denmark. She immigrated to the United States at 18, lived in Chicago, and had eight children from two marriages. Survived by husband Hans Simonsen, four children, and siblings in Chicago. Her life was marked by faith and community service.

Auction Sale Raises Funds for Hereim Residence
At the auction sale Saturday afternoon the Hereim five room residence in the south part of town sold for 1065 dollars. It was purchased by John Kizer. Hereim also disposed of household goods at satisfactory prices. The safe was cried by auctioneer Reeves. Mr Williamson remains in Serious condition after a fall from his barn last week and is at Estherville hospital with slim chances of recovery.

Chautauqua Declared a Success This Year
The Groettinger Chautauqua closed with Bland's Musical Marines delivering pleasing selections and strong encores. A reading by Mrs. Smith highlighted the daytime program as a six-character play. The Junior Chautauqua finale featured a beautiful pageant by local youths, praised for improvement over past years.

Weather and Crop Report Notes Warm Week
The week brought very warm weather except Sumlay forenoon when a coat felt unnecessary. Saturday afternoon and Tuesday and Wednesday were excessively warm. Crops are in good condition with a promising outlook for a bumper corn yield. Early oats are largely in the stack. Late-cutting will start next week. Smelt grain yield is good though below average. Hay crop is light but better than feared. Time fly rains helped the hay. Earl Sawyer returned to Fort Dodge Tuesday morning.
