New Parallel Terrace Systems Boost Erosion Control in Palo Alto
Berkland notes rising demand for parallel terrace systems that conserve moisture and reduce erosion. In the past year 382 acres were laid out on contour, 10,500 feet of open ditches and surface drains built, and 172,000 feet of tile installed. Forty-one farmers became co operators with the Soil Conservation District, with 58 completing basic plans and 11 revising old plans.
