Mrs John Twedt Dies After Long Illness July Fourth

Obituary of Alette Malinda Tweet Twedt born in Norway in 1846. She married John Orton in 1865, moved from Norway to the United States then to Iowa. Survived by eight children, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Funeral held at 1:30 pm at home and 2 pm at First Lutheran Church with relatives and community mourners in attendance.

Wedding of Mr George Mienker and Miss Tueille Brennan

Mr George Mienker of Penton and Miss Tueille Brennan of Utica South Dakota wed in the city with Justice J M Resh officiating. The couple will reside in Penton after a wedding trip. The groom is son of Mrs Carl Mienkee and the bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Brennan both of Allen South Dakota. The Times extends congratulations.

DeLand and Heald Named District Judges

DeLand of Storm Lake and Attorney George Heart of Spencer were nominated for judges in this Judicial district at a Knunetsburg convention. Heald led with 26 votes, Die Gand 65 and 28. Leve rein of Humboldt had 4 and 20 votes. The top two would face fall election to succeed Judge Debaml and Levee whose terms expire early next year. Also reports from Coleman Hospital at Estherville note five Gruettinger patients underwent surgical operations including Rev. M. Mandinger and Donald Lee High. Othe Gruettinger patients Julia Leonard and Wilwin Gruettinger are recovering. In Butter judging at Waterloo on June 19, Mrs Henry Hansen tied for third with Palmer Frettem of Graetlinger noted in the Creamery Journal as a notable event.

Oral Bonstead Crowned Butter Making Champion

Hats off to Oral Bonstead assistant buttermaker at the Graettinger creamery. He won first prize in the cold storage butter contest by the National Creamery Buttermakers Association, with Ashley of Chetek Wisconsin second and Alfred Overlie of Rose Creek Minnesota third. A large crowd at High Lake attended the annual Sunday school picnic where Rev. Dr. Cleveland of Yankton South Dakota delivered an address on Love. The speaker was praised for his sincere and durable message and the day was described as ideal despite the crowd’s size. Three Met Death In Ruthven Plane Crash

A Curtis Robin cabin plane crashed between Ruthven and Electric Park Sunday morning killing pilot Kennard Wilson 24 and mechanic Ernest Southworth 18, and injuring Vera Hughes 16 who died later. The NC 904 aircraft clipped telephone wires during a sharp bank and nose dived into a roadside ditch near Lost Island lake. Witnesses reported the motor idling as speed could not be raised to clear the wires.
