Ruthven Bicentennial Weekend Celebrations Planned
Ruthven marks its bicentennial with three days of events from July 3 to 5. Saturday features Pee Wee and Mite ball games at 11 30 AM, a water fight by Ruthven firefighters, 5 PM softball, and an 8 PM square dance led by Paul Moliter. Sunday offers a 11 AM inter church service at Ruthven School gym with a 100 voice choir, noon picnic, contests, and a 5 PM Lost Island Lake Boat Parade. Monday includes a 12 PM 51 unit parade, a 100 breed ANISHA horse show, 5 PM beef barbecue, and a time capsule burial at 8 PM in Bank Center Nedian, plus a heritage fair and raffle for a grandfather clock drawing at 8 30 PM.

He died Sunday at Holy Family Hospital Estherville born December 4 1885 in Emmetsburg to Chris and Roseann Clare married to Eileen Murphy in 1917 lived on farms then worked for Rock Island Railroad retiring 1963. Survivors include wife son Robert daughters Leona Anderson Mary Wilberg 20 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren sister Rose Crook brothers Joe and Vincent.
