The Graettinger Times notes public opinion favors fairness amid oil strike disputes. It cites union demands of 30 percent, company counter offers, and wage figures from 1941 to 1947, including 64 dollars to 79.82 during wartime and 70.60 predicted in peacetime for a 40 hour week.
A Cleveland report notes coal boats on the Great Lakes struggled against time and storms in November to deliver fuel for Midwest furnaces this winter. Another item warned Europe faces chaos without enough coal to ease the shortage.
The report shows disbursements totaling 8 728 30 for the School House Fund and General Fund items including salaries supplies repairs and library books.
