Graettinger Defeats Estherville in Debate At Estherville
Graettinger High School debate team defeated Estherville High School on Friday evening with the affirmative on price control of necessities. Graettinger's girls dominated rebuttal and secured a unanimous decision. About fifty attendees traveled from Estherville by train and auto, including local pupils who cheered the Graettinger debaters Misses Minnie Henningsen Stella Anderson and Mable Anderson.

Mrs. A Christopher a former Graettinger resident died January 8 at her daughter Mays Havre Montana. Funeral was in Medina North Dakota beside her husband. She was 77 and survived by children L Christopher of Palo Alto County Mrs Gus Olson Havre John Medina and Mrs Sisco Waterloo. Her death ends a long Palo Alto residence and is mourned by many.

The Lost Island Creamery held its annual meeting on January 6 with secretary books noting 88 000 dollars in annual business. Butterfat averaged 59 dollars per hundred, and 70 000 pounds of navy butter were produced. New officers include James Hansen president A C Christiansen secretary 8 P Duhn treasurer and L Larsen and Thos H Rierson as board members. The 1918 showing is described as very good with no new buttermaker hired to replace Hansen who has resigned.
