The long running Opera House Co. plans to operate under an old charter but faces changes as stockholders push for a new charter. Interest at eighteen percent per annum, strained finances, and rising expenses threaten stability after twenty years of management.
A series of soil fertility meetings led by J L Boatman will explain how phosphate use can raise incomes and yields. The talks cover dr ainage, rotation, manure use, and maintaining soil fertility, with sessions January 20 to 28 at various towns in Palo Alto county Iowa.
Wil Digpone of Head of Live Stock and Machinery to hold a large auction sale Wednesday January 21. Sale starts with a free pack at noon. 60 acre farm north of the S Sullivan Estate to host the event with stock and machinery advertised in this week’s Times. Provisions include six months time on terms. Greenwood Reeves and H A Elsenbach act as clerks.

Ozman Anderson and Miss Ylolo Anderson were married at the M E parsonage in Albert Lea Minnesota on Friday January 8. The couple will reside at Leland Iowa where the groom works in hardware. The bride formerly worked as a clerk in the Jenson store and is the daughter of Mrs Jenson and Miss Margaret Anderson. A Sunday wedding dinner was hosted by Mrs Agnes Christianson and Mrs Arge Jensen at Thompson Iowa with only immediate relatives present. The Times offers congratulations and best wishes for a long happy marriage.
Mr Theodore Dahl of this locality and Migs Rath Biekel of Spirit Lake united in marriage December 20. The couple will reside on the farm southwest of town owned by Mayor Fred Spies. Dahl has served as a dairy farm caretaker for years and is well known. the bride is a stranger to Graettinger but praised by all who met her. The Times extends hearty congratulations and wishes them sunshine and happiness in married life.
W F Hadley longtime Battolo township resident and purebred hog breeder moved early Thursday from Algona to Urbana Illinois leaving behind friends and mortgage on farm stock and equipment. The farm debt was turned to HLOG Armatronics at Britt and sale set for Tuesday to settle claims. About two thousand bushels of corn remained on the farm and many creditors and neighbors shared in the departure.

Graininger friends report El Craven of Graettinger is very weak after a fall caused a fractured bone. He has little nourishment and his condition is failing. He turned 80 last June and many friends hope for a quick improvement.
The harvest started a week ago at Rdvk Island and will involve several men for four to five weeks. Ice from the local pit, thirteen inches thick, is being shipped to Kansan City. Eight cars of hydrogen product are loaded transport ally.
An auto crash occurred Tuesday morning near Anton involving Alya Thorgson Murle Suse and Zal pid Merle Suse as they exited a vehicle at a curve. No one sustained serious injuries and Miss Suse produced a note while others escaped unharmed. Local Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary members offered support and collected details as the group convened at the Lutheran parish hall.
Dr Hennessy, long acquainted in Graettinger and Emmetsburg, died this forenoon at Emmetsburg hospital after a two day pneumonia illness. He had practiced in Graettinger for years and later in Emmetsburg under Dr Hane aton. Graettinger friends mourn his death and extend condolences to the family.
