Circle No 3 of St Cecelia's Immaculate Conception Rosary Society hosts a card party Sunday evening January 17 at 8 p m at the parish center. Euchre and bridge will be played plus children's tables, door prizes and a lunch. Chairladies are Mrs Richard Duhn and Mrs Vincent Eller.
Mrs Earnest Skattebo notes families traveling for Christmas visits and returns from Denver Missouri and Cedar Rapids. Allan Larson heads to Decorah for Luther College while Nick Spear visits Sarasota Florida. A 45 pound banana squash grown by Mrs Keith Schoppe State Center feeds a large family dinner.
Graettinger Cooperative Telephone Association files with the Rural Electrification Administration a Compliance Assurance under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. The document pledges non discrimination in service applications rates facilities meetings and participation rights and outlines complaint procedures and confidentiality for complainants.
Bank officers Jensen and Warren certify the 1971 report of condition for Graettinger State Bank. The balance sheet shows total assets of 4,619,614.07 with deposits totaling 4,037,417.53 and capital reserves of 19,016.56. Ledger includes demand and time deposits, U.S. Treasury securities, and state government deposits.
The Jack Creek Happy Hustlers 4-H club held its January 2 meeting at the Arnold White home. President Cindy England led the session with roll call on Christmas activities by a large group of members and visitors. Creditors must file claims with the district clerk within six months from the second publication dated January 21 1971.

Mr and Mrs Harold Brobst of Wallingford spent New Year weekend with their daughter Mr and Mrs Roger Jensen and family in Council Bluffs. Also visiting for Sunday dinner were Mr and Mrs Jim Mahan and family of Carroll Mr and Mrs Don Mahan and family and Mr and Mrs Leo Mahan. Don Mahan and family were recent supper guests at Mrs Alice Mahan's home.
