Corn Growers Meeting Here Saturday at 2:30 PM

A public meeting is set for Saturday afternoon at 2:30 PM in the Hawkeye theatre Graettinger to explain the Corn Growers Association. County businessmen support the move and farmers are urged to attend. M. L. Murphy of Walnut township is chairman. The date is January 16.

Vernon Farm Bureau Meeting At Vernon School

Vernon Farm Bureau will hold a meeting Thursday evening January 21 at the Vernon school District No 8 located five miles east of Graettinger. A good program will be tendered and the meeting will be enjoyable and profitable. Everybody invited to attend. Legion Dance Next Monday Evening. The local Legion boys will sponsor a big dance with Moore's orchestra from Estherville. A good time is assured for all attendees.

Funeral for Elsinger Held in West Point Nebraska

Mr and Mrs Chris Christofferson traveled to West Point Nebraska last week to attend the funeral of the former Mrs Elsinger who died there. The service was held on Sunday. The deceased is survived by her husband and two children. Mrs Elsinger was a familiar visitor in our city and will be remembered by many local residents. The Christoffersons extend sympathy from many Grachtinger friends.

Catholic Ladies Aid Card Party Next Thursday

A card party hosted by the Catholic Ladies Aid society will be at Woodman hall next Thursday evening. Progressive Five Hundred will be played and a luncheon served at 11 30. A charge of 2 be will be made. A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend.

Free Tractor School Set for Graettinger January 22

A free tractor school will be held in Graettinger on Friday January 22 starting at 9 30 a m. Experts will give talks on the subject and several motion pictures will be shown to keep the day interesting.

Wallingford Corn Jubilee Draws All for Seed Testing

Next Saturday January 16 will be a big Wallingford event. A corn day with a free seed corn testing program opens at 11 30 with a community meal and a 1 pm program at the M W A hall featuring talks on seed corn and corn products. Local business men provide a large seed corn testing room and a tester, aided by the County Agent, to test farmers samples for free and aid seed procurement. The event aims to promote better seed and inform farmers about corn quality and uses, with a corn Jubilee menu and an address from Ames Agricultural College.

Funeral of Mrs J H Miller Held Monday

Mrs James H Millea died at home southeast of the city after a long illness. Funeral services were at Assumption church with Very Rev J G Murtagh officiating and burial in St Johns cemetery. She was born Mary Josephine Kelly in Youngstown Ohio in 1862 and lived in Vernon township before moving to Palo Alto. Survived by husband and three children Hillary Mary Anna. Numerous siblings and relatives mourn her loss in a community obituary praising her devout character and family devotion. Also details on a millinery store opening by Mrs Henry Westergard over Simonsen meat market with spring hats and remodeling services.

Wesley Sevdy and Nina Olson Married Friday

Wesley Sevdy and Nina Ethel Olson were united in marriage at the Lutheran parsonage in Ten ton on Friday January viz. Rev. U. Sande performed the ceremony. The wedding couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nelson. After the ceremony a luncheon was served by Mrs. Swade. The newly wedded couple will reside in this city for the present. The bride, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar N. Olson, grew to womanhood here and remains active in community affairs. The groom, Graettinger born, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Sevdy and is well regarded. The Times extends hearty congratulations.
