Laurel Paulson of Luverne Minnesota was jailed after being caught attempting to steal a car from A L Marsh of Gillette Grove. He confessed to a string of thefts from Cherokee Rock Rapids Gillette Grove and a garage burglary at Royal. He attempted to escape jail by picking a lock using wire. He now faces robbery charges in Clay County and has a history including a prior 14 month term for robbery. He pledged to resume crime after release.

Robbers broke the gas pump and door locks, stole gasoline, five gallons of oil, and assorted merchandise and tools from the office. Police suspect auto thieves active in northwest Iowa. this marks the third robbery at the station.

Mother Of Mrs McManus Died Last Sunday

Lutheran Bible Conference To Open Sunday

Texas Man Shoots Boy Over Chivalry in Webster City
Glenn Kitley, 18, near Haghe Grove, was shot in the cheek by Victor Howton, 24, of Pampa, Texas, after Howton insulted Kitley’s sister Miss Dot outside a Webster City restaurant. Howton fled but was arrested after investigators tracked his footprints in the snow. Kitley was not seriously injured. the bullet exited near the car. Howton pleaded guilty and said he had served two years in a Texas prison for theft.
