Mrs. Nelson Dies After Illness Funeral Saturday

Mrs R Nelson died at her daughter’s home after weeks of illness. Her husband had died recently. Funeral set for Saturday at 2 PM at Evangelical Lutheran church in the city. Obituary to follow in next week’s Times.

Mrs John Moltz Dies After Illness in Valley Falls

The Wallingford Times reports the death of Mrs. John Moltz of Valley Falls Kansa after a yearslong illness, suffered pneumonia his condition declined until Monday morning. Her mother Mrs. Paton and sister Miss Alvina visited during her final hours. Funeral arrangements set for Thursday at A J Johnson chapel with Rev Otis L Lang presiding. Burial at the cemetery north of town follows at Muirville Lutheran church confirmations and marriage details noted. Elizabeth Paton born July 20 1888 in Limmettsburg later joined Moltz in 1911 after marriage. The Moltz family lived in several states before settling in Kandson.

Old Year Closed With Many At Hymen's Altar

The Times reports two local weddings in Graettinger and nearby areas. Earl J. Masters and Mary Cathering Craven wed December 30 with Father Kelly officiating. The couple will live in Graettinger. Masters works in the meat market. Mary Craven is from Wallingford and a University of Iowa nursing graduate. The groom is a junior dentist in Iowa City after Emmetsburg schooling. The Times also notes R. H. Ristan and Ethel A. Robbins of Livermore married December 28, planning to reside in Liver­­mores. The bride is from Livermore, once a resident of Graettinger, remembered as a bright, clever girl. The Times offers congratulations and best wishes.

Palo Alto Leads Ames Short Course Delegation

Thirty Palo Alto county 4-H club boys attended the Boys Short Course at Ames and returned home after the conference, boasting the largest delegation with over 600 boys registered. The week covered breeds and types of stock, crops, soils, farm machinery, beekeeping, and paper from corn stalks, plus movies, talks, an athletic carnival, and a banquet. Notable speakers included Wakelin McNeel, Father Jaeger, Miss Faonnie Buchanan, and Jon Lilly. The group excelled in livestock and grain judging, placing among the top teams in the statewide contest.

Royal Neighbors Change Meeting Night and Events

Royal Neighbors lodge shifts monthly meetings to the second Tuesday with the next gathering set for Tuesday evening January 10. District Deputy Anna Smith will attend as candidates are initiated and officers installed, urging all members to attend and inform others. A card party by local Catholic church women is planned for Friday January 18 at Woodman Hall with bridge and five hundred, usual admission.
