The judging date for the local home Christmas decorating contest was shifted to Wednesday night after being announced for the previous weekend. At least two homeowners were unaware of the change and their displays were not lit during judging, and the Times could not announce the shift in time.

The City Library announces weekend hours Saturdays 2 to 5 and Wednesdays 2 to 5. A continued reading list highlights new fiction and nonfic titles such as But with the Dawn rejoicing by Kelly and The United States Secret Service by Bowen. A new member, Jon Jamison, is welcomed as the Silver 60 entrant.
James Parsons of near Delhi set a record by trapping and destroying 722 gophers this year earning a bounty of 10 cents per gopher. The tally highlights local efforts to curb crop-damaging pests and supports county wildlife control programs.
