Asa Hankey 49 Buried With Military Honors

Funeral services for Asa Hankey of Osgood were held at the Methodist church in Hmmelsburg with Rev. William Bohr and Rev. de He Muiler officiating. Burial followed at Myergreen cemetery. Hankey, a Navy veteran and VFW member, died December 5, 1944 after a heart attack in Emmetsburg. He was born August 7 1895 in Story county Iowa and is survived by his wife Gladys Hastings Bullen and four children.

Sister of Joe Kliegl Dead in Chicago Burial in Emmetsburg

Mrs Helen Teeters aged 05 of Chicago died recently and the remains were brought to Palo Alto for burial. The funeral was held from Assumption church Emmetsburg Thursday. She was sister of Joe Kliegl Sr and her husband had died earlier. There are no children. Mrs J P Wagner of Graettinger attended the funeral in Cylinder.

The Times reports Grodland and Reeves, longtime auctioneers, have dissolved their partnership after about 26 years. Rev Carlsen Coming to Graettinger

Chaplain in the U S Navy Rev Carlsen and Mrs Verner will visit Graettinger on Wednesday January 10. He will meet St Paul parishioners at the local church that afternoon. His ship was sunk by enemy action. he was injured but has apparently recovered, according to Graettinger friends.

Grade Operetta Program Shines At Gradlinger School

The annual Gradlinger grade school operetta lit up the auditorium on Thursday evening December 21 with a large audience and a colorful program. Highlights included Christmas Carols sung by angels, a nativity scene with Silent Night by Misa Ruth Frick, junior high chorus numbers, and The Court of Santa Claus featuring a large cast of shoppers, heralds, Santa Claus, and other characters. Jimmy Barringer as the court jester drew cheers for his performance. other pupils likewise delighted. High school girls' sextet contributed two numbers with Mas Comejealy at the piano. The production was led by Miss Connealy and grade teachers Miss Christopher, Miss Law, Mrs. Orcutt, Mrs. Derfler, and Mrs. Olesen, whose training and direction earned many compliments for the colorful program and final group finale.

Farm Bureau Meeting Held at Walnut Township Home

A large turnout attended a Walnut Township Farm Bureau gathering at the Jens Kirkegaard home. County Agent H W Ashby and County Organization Director Martin Simonson presided as officers were elected with Henry Brigham re elected township overseer and Mrs 8 Brighams chosen secretary and treasurer. The Gravit ninger community mourns the death of Mrs Oral Bonstead at Holy Family hospital. Born in Gradtinner she grew up here, married Oral A Bonstead and had four children Marilyn Shirley John Kathleen who preceded her. Funeral service held at Catholic church with Rev Hurley officiating and burial in Catholic cemetery. The Times extends sympathy to the family and relatives.
